Glide in to the remarkable entrance made of fine-cut, partially polished granite and the English mosaic floor that has been restored to its original beauty in Sweden’s first five-star hotel.

Housed in a neo-classical palatial building from 1889 in down town Gothenburg and complete with refined traditions and prime views over the medieval district.

Twice winner of the prestigious prize Best Business hotel 2003 and 2004.

Pillared halls with arches of Italian marble stucco and wrought-iron details reflect the New Renaissance style. Recent renovations reflect this classicism and a pleasant mix of Scandinavian design and historical architecture offers a residence of international quality and class. Evident of this charm is the ornate decor, wood carving, marble, mosaics, gold leaf paint and enormous cut glass chandeliers.

The radiant atrium styled restaurant Svea Hof has a 3-cutlery rating from Michelin and the larger American style lively basement bar is popular with both guests and locals alike.

For special presentations, the well-stocked wine cellar is situated in the former vaults a perfect site for private wine tastings or dinners.

The pictures of the rooms are not what you get. The hotel blamed it on Bookings.com. They would not give us the room promised unless we paid an additional 200SEK. The superior rooms are the size of a closet. Also most rooms have windows that do not open or open onto interior space. Not good with no Air-conditioning.

I was very disappointed to find the restaurant closed and that the bar was to close early. We travelled with a baby and at no point on the booking.com website or hotel website were we told that as it was midsummer the hotel facilities would be curtailed. The staff just shrugged their shoulders and offered no apology.

Underbart vackra lokaler, trevlig personal, härliga sängar och rent och snyggt på rummet.

Tvn m fjärrkontroll närmast antik-tar ner det allmänna intrycket av rummet. Frukostbuffén serverades i en underbar lokal men hårstrån på tallrikar, smutsiga kaffemuggar och sönderskrapade kanter på borden tar bort känslan av ett lyxigare hotell...

Erittäin ystävällinen henkilökunta ja hyvä palvelu. Hyvä sijainti ja hienot yleiset tilat.

Huoneemme kokolattiamatto ja vesihanojen ja erityisesti suihkun heikot vedenpaineet eivät vastanneet hotellin muuta tasoa. Em. puutteiden johdosta hotellin hintataso ei täysin vastannut laatua ja 5 tähden luokitus oli liian korkea.
