Hotel Royal is situated in the heart of Göteborg and shopping, restaurants and entertainment are within just a few steps from our doors.

Our hotel is the oldest in town, established in 1852. A family hotel, totally renovated in line with the charming style reminiscent of f times gone by.

We have 80 rooms with shower and WC, wooden floors, TV with satellite channels, wireless Internet access and all rooms are non smoking.

All children under 2 years are charged SEK 50.00 per night and person for cots.

All older children or adults are charged SEK 350.00 per night and person for extra beds.

Maximum capacity of extra beds in a room is 2.

Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 1.

Extra beds and baby cots are upon request and need to be confirmed by the hotel.

Supplements will not be calculated automatically in the total costs and have to be paid separately in the hotel.

Hotel information

The hotel has 82 rooms on 4 floors that have been individually decorated. We have both single and double rooms.

Some of the rooms have a bigger bed and are more spacious. We call them superior rooms.

The hotel also have some octagonal double rooms! Those rooms we call Superior Special.

Our hotel is a non smoking facility.

Room information

All rooms have parquet floor and in most rooms we also managed to preserve the original stuccos.

Area information

The Horticultural gardens, named Trädgårdsföreningen, are only 300 yards away and provides a green oasis that includes a rosarium complete with café and marvellous rose garden.

This is a very nice hotel with modern facilities, a fantastic location in the centre of Gothenburg and whose staff go out of their way to make the guest feel welcome, providing excellent personal service. A very pleasant stay.

Small-scale, warm and homely feel, personal attention of staff, very central location (2 minutes walk from central station and trams), afternoon tea/coffee and legendary cake-of-the-day in the lounge! Historic decor, excellent breakfast buffet included.

No tea/coffee making facility or refrigerator in the compact bedroom.

Very friendly staff. Conveniently located, short walking distance to almost everything in the centre of the city.

No minibar. Could only see a parking building wall from the windows.

I appreciated that the staff is willing to help people using "fledgling Swedish" in Swedish. It is a nice change to find staff willing to spend the time. All of the staff were helpful, courteous, knowledgeable and kind.

If you are driving to this hotel get detailed instructions about how to get there. It is a very difficult to locate the hotel by car (simple if walking from Central Station or Nordstan's) and if you miss the turn, you will end up crossing a series of 1 km bridges and tunnels before you can get back. Do not rely on your gps for directions. Ours led us onto the tram-way going the wrong direction etc

The staff were very, very nice people. Always ready with a smile, very informed about the area, very pleasant to speak with. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and the tea/coffee cakes....to die for. My gratitude to the chef. After a long day of walking and seeing the sites I looked forward to returning to the hotel for a coffee and 'cake' - to enjoy the comfort of the sitting area and speak with the staff.

The front stairs - with a heavy bag - were a bit of a bother, but the guys at reception were able to assist.

The room was beautiful - spacious, clean, brand new, lovely decor. Bed was really comfy and the room was really quiet. Breakfast was great - lots of choice. Staff very friendly, hotel itself was lovely and really close to city centre and about 5 minutes walk from the central station. If you go back to the hotel in the afternoon they serve tea/coffee and cake downstairs from 2pm! (also, if you want to use a gym/pool, you can get a discount for a nearby gym/spa if you are staying here - we didn't visit but the pictures looked nice)
